Winona Ryder, professionally Winona Ryder, was born on Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from her hometown. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's father was from an ethnically Jewish family Ryder considers herself Jewish. Ryder is the youngest sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder's family relocated from Mendocino County to California at the age of seven years old. At the time, there were no electric lights. Ryder who loved reading when she was 12, became a bookworm since Ryder had no access to television. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she reached the age of 12. Lucas was released in 1986 and Ryder, then barely 15 years old, landed an acting job as a lead actor. Ryder suffered bullying in her high school. Ryder hoped her acting career would change this. However, the plan didn't pan out. The actress continued to chase her dreams. Her big break came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played characters that made a splash in several movies. In 1993, she was nominated twice in the Academy Awards. One of was for her performance in The Age of Innocence.
